About Us

Born as the environmental and social arm of the HBD group and funded by the entrepreneur Mark Shuttleworth, the Foundation is now independently managed and has a strategic plan focused on biodiversity conservation and the social and economic development of the communities of Príncipe Island.

Today, the Foundation has a team of nearly 50 employees, more than 90% local, who implement terrestrial and marine conservation projects in partnership with regional authorities and local communities. We are financially supported by more than 15 funders, and collaborate with a large network of regional, national and international partners that grows every day!

We work to conserve Príncipe Island with and for its people. See our strategic goals here.
