Fundação Príncipe is hiring a Finance Director to support the organisation finances and operations, being responsible for the finance function of the organization ensuring efficient day to day management, controls, systems and reporting.

Fundação Príncipe (FP) is one of the few locally established NGOs operating on the island of Príncipe. It was established in 2015 to promote sustainable development and biodiversity conservation, through projects that strongly focus on supporting the local community and building local capacity. FP’s projects currently focus on establishing and strengthening protected areas (marine and terrestrial), researching the unique fauna and flora of the island, promoting community livelihood, ecotourism and environmental sustainability.

The Opportunity

We are seeking qualified candidates to join the Fundação Príncipe team. The Finance Director will work closely with our partners at a regional and national level. This person will use technical skills and practical experience to support FP to deliver effective conservation projects.

Main responsibilities:

  • Supporting the organization's finance and operations, being responsible for the Fundação Príncipe's finance department and ensuring good management of it;

  • Implementing controls and systems and producing efficient day-to-day reports;

  • Responsible for the finance team and financial support to all FP projects and teams;

  • Follow up on external audits;

  • Running performance reporting and KPIs;

  • Manage and develop financial systems, processes and procedures, supporting the CEO.

Preferred requirements:

  • Experience in non-profit organization finance management and funding management;

  • Diploma or equivalent level qualification in a relevant discipline and some experience in a similar role and similar work situation;

  • Experience in conservation fundraising.
