The team working for the project "Omali vida nón" started visiting the fishing communities to complement and detail the work of characterizing fisheries in Príncipe.

The objective of this work is to update the knowledge about the different fishing gear and techniques currently used by fishing communities, as well as the associated problems in terms of sustainable fisheries and impact on the regeneration of fish stocks.

Given the lack of information on the characterization of fisheries in the regional context, this knowledge will be particularly useful during the round of meetings with fishermen and fish sellers in which the impacts of these fisheries and improvements for sustainability will be discussed. The collected data will also be important to monitor the impacts of marine management and conservation interventions to be implemented in a participatory way.
