Conservation Leadership Programme Scholarship goes to Yanik Alberto
Conservation Leadership Programme is an internship program for young people starting in nature conservation. Between 2018-2019 Davide Dias received a CLP scholarship with Fundação Príncipe to support the botanical work of our Terrestrial Conservation program, and Davide even had the opportunity to intern at the São Paulo Botanical Garden. Davide is, today, one of the more experienced botanists in the country.
This year, Fundação Príncipe competed a Conservation Leadership Programme grant for the second time, and so, we have now with us the Yanik Semedo, former Fundação volunteer, who begins an internship to study the Príncipe Island seabirds.
For a year, Yanik Alberto will be studying and supporting in the collecting and processing seabird data, especially the population of Concozucos (Phaethon lepturus) and seabirds in the Tinhosas Islands. Yanik will also coordinate the International Waterbird Census on the Island and will promote various information sharing initiatives with Island stakeholders and Arribada Club students.
Fundação Príncipe has as its view a pristine Príncipe, as a future for all Principians in the heart of the world. Therefore, boosting opportunities for growth, training and empowerment for young biologists is essential to achieving our vision and mission.
We couldn't be prouder to have Yanik, as our future leader, on our Terrestrial Conservation team!
