Fundação Príncipe launched a new project entitled ′′ Changing the world through women's hands ".
A project funded by the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund, and a regional partnership with Príncipe Regional Government, with the Artisan Association of Príncipe Facilita Fora Umuén and with the Tchada Women's Association.
We also have an important national partnership with the Missão DIMIX and Programa Tatô! In this project we will boost income alternatives for two community groups led by women on Príncipe Island, focusing on sustainable and responsible use of natural resources and threats to sea turtles.
The Facilita Fora Umuén group, which was created with support from the Community Fund of Protetuga Project, will continue to collect waste from the largest sea turtle nesting beach on Príncipe Island, transforming collected slippers into jewels and transfforming plastic bags in mats (among other products) Tchada's group will be involved in the Capture Zero awareness campaigns promoting, among local fishermen, the importance of protecting sea turtles and will, together with the Mudjere_principe project, produce reusablepads, supporting the eradication of menstrual poverty and the waste of disposable products while, at the same time, boosting income for the families covered by the project.
This initiative also features the support of the Adolescer project! Our project coordinator Jormicilesa Sacramento was, at the Radio Regional, with representatives of the two groups of women covered by the project, to make this new initiative known at regional level.
They are women, changing the world! Community engagement is one of the pillars of the Príncipe Foundation's conservation work, and you can learn more about this work of ours here: https://fundacaoprincipe.org/.../projeto.../com-a-comunidade
