We are hiring a Project Manager!

Fundação Príncipe is looking for a Project Manager to contribute to island-wide conservation activities.

FUNDAÇÃO PRÍNCIPE

Fundação Príncipe (FP) promotes sustainable development and biodiversity conservation through projects that strongly target local community support and local capacity building. FP's projects focus on establishing and strengthening protected areas (marine and terrestrial), investigating the island's unique flora and fauna, promoting community livelihoods, ecotourism and environmental sustainability.

Local support is integral to our work, and we believe that local people should be the primary beneficiaries of the protection of the island's biodiversity. We believe that conservation has to be done with people and for people.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Project Manager to join our team, working closely with the Birdlife International (BLI) team at the regional and national level. An important component of the role will be to support the "Enhancing Biodiversity Conservation and Sustainable Management of Land and Natural Resources" project, funded by UNDP and GEF. This role is expected to contribute to the development and management of the project, with the aim of safeguarding globally significant terrestrial biodiversity and associated ecosystem services. The work will involve strengthening national capacities and structures for biodiversity and natural resource management, integrated land use planning and enforcement of environmental baseline laws, as well as improving the management of protected areas and promoting sustainable livelihoods.

Main Requirements

This position is ideal for someone with experience in terrestrial ecology and biodiversity conservation and associated sustainable livelihoods.

  • Degree or equivalent level qualification in a relevant field and some experience in a similar role and work situation;

  • Experience in conservation fundraising (preferred);

  • Proven experience in community engagement, participatory approaches and sustainable livelihood initiatives.

What to Expect

We are looking for a strong team member, someone who enjoys working in a dynamic environment where creative approaches and thinking are brought in to ensure the implementation of projects. In return, this role offers the opportunity to work with two innovative and entrepreneurial organisations at the forefront of conservation.
